Summer rustic barn wedding
So now we’re right in the middle of a cold and wet December and I’m going to take you back to a gorgeously warm day back in July for the lovely Jen and Derek’s rustic barn wedding. When I found out they were having their wedding reception for 250 in the HUGE barn at Court Farm in Banwell I must admit I thought they might have bitten off more than they can chew.
The barn is….well an old cattle barn. Actually, not even old with oak wooden beams and creaky wooden door that we’re usually accustomed to. Just 80 ft by 60 ft of concrete and corrugated roofing. How on earth can this be transformed into a beautiful space for a wedding?!
Well it’s all about vision and Jen the bride (who is a potter by trade so hugely creative!) had plenty. Jen wanted a simple rustic reception; her beautiful handmade ceramic plant pots filled with an abundance of herbs and a splash of fresh lavender, ceramic tapas serving plates; a simple white runner down our upcycled palletwood tables & chairs, a few hay bale lounges and festoon lighting strung above the rustic bar.
I’m sure you’ll agree that she did a beautiful job with a teeny bit of guidance from myself 🙂
I love the way that this pretty standard concrete barn can be completely transformed from these simple touches. It just proves that if you have vision (and Pinterest also helps of course!) you can achieve a completely individual look.
On my next post, I’ll be giving tips on how to transform blank spaces so watch this space.
